What is a hero?

We thought about the question – “What is a hero?” and came up with these ideas:

• A person who does good deeds for and helps other people. (Meg)
• You need someone who looks after you, loves you, and someone who provides food, shelter and water for you. (Gus)
• Someone who you can trust. (Hannah & Finn)
• A hero is someone who saves another person. (Alex)
• A hero is mostly a W.E.S.T. person. A W.E.S.T. person is a kind person who stands up for people. W means welcoming. E means encouraging. S means sorry. T means thankful. (Mia)
• A hero is someone who helps you out when you are in trouble. (Luca)
• A hero is someone who cooperates with you and speaks up at the right time. (Nikita)
• A hero doesn’t have to save people’s lives. (Isobel)
• A hero is a nice person who is good and helpful. (Jake)
• A hero is a person who is there for you. (Meah & Daisy)
• A hero is usually someone who inspires you at something (Xavier)
• A hero is positive and helps people. (Charlotte)

• Sometimes heroes are people who do save people’s lives. (Halle)

At first, I thought of heroes as superheroes. But then when I thought deeply about it, I decided you don’t have to be a superhero to be a hero. (Xavier)
